COVID-19 Online Assessment Tool:

AHS has developed a simple online assessment tool to help you decide whether you need to call 811 to be tested for COVID-19. It'll guide you to answer questions about your symptoms & take you through steps to help determine whether you need testing. Rides for Essential Medical Services:

  • Drive Happiness: Extended their transportation service for seniors to include individuals with no means for transport to essential medical services (dialysis, chemo, etc.). Contact 780-424-5438 or Email: info@drivehappiness.ca

 

Online Access to Doctors:

*NOTE* If you are WITHOUT a physician and need care, consider access to online services. If you HAVE A FAMILY DOCTOR please call their office. Your doctor knows you best and has access to your health information. Family doctors are making every effort to see you in person if necessary or call you to facilitate social distancing.

Purpose Med: Free (Video/Call) Access To Healthcare For All Albertans

Telus Health Babylon App: Doctor consultations are available in BC, Alberta, and Ontario. Residents in these provinces who are covered under MSP, AHCIP, or OHIP can access virtual appointments at no direct cost. Alternatively, patients without provincial health insurance in these provinces can access virtual appointments for a fee, per Physician appointment.

FINANCIAL HELP

Emergency Relief Funds (CERB) – More details, including websites are below)

  • If an individual (including self-employed) loses their job due COVID -19, they may be qualified for temporary income support from the CERB fund.

  • You cannot receive both EI and CERB. 

  • If self-employed and not eligible for EI, you could be eligible for CERB.

Unemployment Insurance

  • Unemployed persons should apply for Employment Insurance (EI) immediately after losing their jobs as a result of COVID-19.

  • This includes self-employed individuals.

  • Apply online under EI Sickness Benefits

  • Get up to 15 weeks of financial assistance

  • You could receive 55% of your earnings up to a maximum of $573 per week

 

  • Summary of Eligibility:

  • Record of Employment (ROE)

  • A medical certificate is no longer required as of March 15, 2020 or later.

  • You must accumulate 600 insured hours of work within 52 weeks

  • ETS Transit Fares Temporarily Suspended (updated 3/24/20) Effective March 21, The City of Edmonton will temporarily suspend fare collection on all Edmonton Transit Service buses, LRT and DATS service. In addition, all entry (unless otherwise required) will be through the rear doors only

Free Delivery Programs:

  • Bag-Half-Full: Free delivery organized by UAlberta medical students to help support elderly and immunocompromised community. You pay for groceries online, or provide a grocery list (and grocery funds), students will deliver your order. Online form or call 780-952-7101 or 780-297-7800.

  • Fly & Fetch: Fetchers willing to pick up and deliver groceries for free or a small fee. Each fetcher has info on their weekly schedule and area in the city they can serve.

  • Fresh Routes: If you are in isolation and are unable to get food, Fresh Routes delivers food baskets at no to low cost depending on eligibility. For help, call Steve 403-249-8350

  • Helping Hands delivery program: Free delivery for grocery and personal essentials for seniors and those unable to leave home. Call 587-785-7749 

  • Men in Kilts: Free delivery, helping those who cannot leave their home due to increased risks or have no other help available to them. Send requests edmonton@meninkilts.com

  • Bountiful Farmers Market: $10 delivery, min. purchase $50

  • Costco: Free delivery over $75

  • Co-op: $11 delivery

  • Good Food: Meal ingredients and recipes delivered weekly

  • The Human Experience Hands and Wings: A contactless service for pickup/delivery and running errands (like shovelling snow). $40 first hour, $20/hr after. Call 780-220-2224, serving Edmonton and area (St. Albert, Morinville, Spruce Grove, Onoway)

  • Instacart: Grocery delivery service, their shoppers will buy food and deliver to your door. Not for all of Edmonton, make sure to check if their service can deliver to your area.
